Interviewing Crochet Designer Corrine Turner
Corrine Turner (Rin) is one of my amazing crochet friends that I have had the pleasure of hanging out with and even traveling with when I lived across the river from her back in Ontario! I miss her so much since moving away to Halifax, so it was absolutely wonderful to get the chance to work with her long-distance on this book!
Rin designed the Joey Man Bag for the Friends Crochet Book, and it turned out absolutely gorgeous! I can’t wait to see everyone making these when the book releases!
1). Can you tell me about how you became part of the Friends Crochet Book, and any experiences/thoughts/feelings you had at joining the book?
Lee had messaged me and asked me to be a part of this project which was very exciting because I love Friends.
2). Describe your design and its inspiration in relation to the Show.
I designed Joey’s Man Purse based off of the episode where Rachel styles Joey with a shoulder bag that he says looks like a woman’s purse and then grows to like it.
3). How did you approach your design? Was there anything you found fun or exciting about the design process?
First I found a stitch that looked smooth to mimic the material of the bag from the show and then decided on how to construct it. I am very happy with the result and it was fun finding just the right hardware that helped complete the bag!
4). Are you a fan of the Friends TV Show? What are some of your favourite memories or moments?
I have been watching Friends since I was a kid, I used to watch it with my mom growing up and now it’s a staple in my own home. It is so hard to choose a favorite memory…I can’t say it’s my top favorite but I really enjoy The One with Unagi and when they scare Ross in his apartment.
5). If you could make any other design from the book, which would you make first? Why?
Chrisandra’s Holiday Armadillo is absolutely adorable and I know that my daughter, Maisie, would LOVE it.
Because this book will be distributed and sold worldwide, the designers and Author of ‘Friends: The One With The Crochet’ will not be available for the high volume of pattern support questions related to each of the designs inside the book. If you have a pattern question, please do not contact the designers directly, but rather contact the Publishers at firstname.lastname@example.org – and they will be happy to help you. If needed, the Publishers will contact the designers directly on your behalf. Thank you for your understanding!
