The You’re A Wizard Scarf is crocheted completely in the round, in a tube! That’s done in order to get the faux knit stitch, called the waistcoat stitch, or the split stitch.
Skill Level: Beginner
Materials: Yarn: Lion Brand Color Made Easy Bulky Weight Yarn (200g/247yds): 3 Skeins Anthurium #195-113 (A – main color), 1 skein Tumeric #195-158 (B – stripe color). US Size K/10.5 (6.5mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker.
Gauge: 7 sts x 9 rows = 3inches
Dimensions: 73” long x 6½” wide.
Abbreviations: List all abbreviation on pattern using LBY terms: ch(s) = chain(s) , sl st = slip stitch
Notes:
1). Work with specified color until new color is indicated.
Special Stitchesextended single crochet (exsc) = insert hook into indicated st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops.
extended single crochet split stitch (exsc-split st) = insert hook between posts of next st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops.
Pattern Instructions
Round 1: With A, ch 30, sl st to 1st ch to form a ring, ch 1 (does not count as a st here and throughout), exsc in each st around, join to 1st st–30 sts.
Round 2: Ch 1, exsc-split st in each st around, join.
Rounds 3-20: Repeat Round 2.
Rounds 21-24: With B, Repeat Round 2.
Rounds 25-30: With A, Repeat Round 2.
Rounds 31-34: With B, Repeat Round 2.
Rounds 35-74: With A, Repeat Round 2.
Rounds 75-182: Repeat Rounds 21-74.
Rounds 183-196: Repeat Rounds 21-34.
Rounds 197-216: With A, Repeat Round 2.
FinishingCut 16” pieces of both colors of yarn, fold in half and draw folded loop through sts at each end scarf. Draw tails through folded loop to finish. Using a steam blocker, gently steam the fringe and brush it out with a comb to straighten the strands. Trim ends evenly across once blocked.
