I have an exciting invitation to extend to you! Every Wednesday for roughly the last 3 years, I’ve done a live video chat over on Facebook at 830pm est. We call it Wip Wednesday Live, and there’s a Facebook group to go along with it where everyone posts their current works in progress. It’s been so exciting to see it grow, and it’s now officially sponsored by my friends at @wecrochetofficial who have been offering a weekly prize of yarn and magazines for the last few months 🤩🥰. So many prizes, so many winners!
Then, something really crazy happened, and Facebook invited us into their new Stars Program to monetize the lives for the creator, whaaaaat. I’ve been doing these lives for so long, over 150 of them in total and the new invitation to monetize has been such an amazing joy! So now we have MORE prizes, and for the first time, a dedicated free crochet along for the viewers. And it’s all because this awesome community comes together 🥰🥰🥰. Join us tonight on the CoCo Crochet Lee Facebook Page at 830pm est to begin this beautiful beginner friendly cardigan pattern! Instructions, tutorials, and community love are all involved, and I’m beyond excited ❤🥰.

The Yarn
For the Wip Wednesday Cardigan, you can use any yarn in your stash, it’s a great stash-busting pattern! I used 3 colours on my cardigan, and I love the way they turned out! I used WeCrochet Snuggle Puff for mine, each ball is $4.99 and it’s such a great medium weight yarn. It’s soooo soft!! You can find it here >> Take me to Snuggle Puff
The WeCrochet Website describes Snuggle Puff:
“Snuggle up with downy drifts of cotton! Snuggle Puff is a heavy worsted or Aran weight cotton yarn made possible by new innovations in yarn construction, allowing fiber from our favorite plant to be blown into a nylon mesh. Without the rigid structure of spinning and plying, the resulting yarn is amazingly lightweight and lofty, keeping more of Pima Cotton’s superlative drape and huggable softness than traditional yarn construction. With the added benefit of natural machine washable convenience, Snuggle Puff is perfect for wool-free accessories and more for babies, children, anyone with extra sensitive skin, and cotton fans of all kinds.”.

Wip Wednesday Cardigan Part Three – The Sleeves, Seaming and Trim
This week we will be adding the sleeves to our Cardigans, seaming the sides, and adding a little bit of trim!
The Sleeves of our Cardigan are started from the shoulder and worked downwards towards the cuff. That means that you will be starting with your C colour, and ending with your A colour. Here is the colour chart for the sleeve section.
Sleeves (make two)
Number of Rows per colour.
Colour | xs | sm | med | lg | 1x | 2x | 3x | 4x | 5x
C | 11 | 11 | 11 | 12 | 12 | 12 | 12 | 12 | 12 | |
B | 11 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 12 | 12 | 12 | |
A | 10 | 10 | 10 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 12 | 12 | 12 |
Lay Front and Back Panels open with Right Side facing. We will be crocheting the sleeve right onto the shoulder. Using 2 stitch markers or a piece of yarn to mark your place, mark the center 26 (28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42) rows at the edge of the shoulder (half on the front panel and half on the back panel). This is where your sleeve will fall.
Join C in 1st marked row.
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc 39 (42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63) sts between marked rows, placing approximately 3 hdc for every 2 rows, turn–39 (42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63) hdc.
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, hdc in BLO of each st across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in BLO of each st across to last 2 sts, hdc2tog over last 2 sts, turn–37 (40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 55, 58, 61) hdc.
Row 5: Ch 1, hdc in BLO of each st across, turn.
Rows 6-32 (32, 32, 34, 34, 34, 36, 36, 36): Repeat Rows 2-5 until Repeat runs out for your size on the colour chart.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Seaming
With Wrong Side facing, join seam from wrist to armpit using correct colour of yarn for each section (you will need to fasten off, and fasten back on to seam each colour to match). Continue seaming from armpit to bottom hem.
Collar
Using correct yarn colour for each section (you will need to fasten off, and fasten back on to crochet each edge to match), hdc around inside collar edge placing approximately 3 hdc for every 2 rows. Continue all the way around entire cardigan edge. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Pocket Finishing
Leaving top edge open, carefully sew remaining pocket seams closed using correct yarn colour on WS, without punching through to the RS. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Wip Wednesday Cardigan Finishing – Upload your Project to Ravelry
The last thing to do for our Wip Wednesday Cal Cardigan is to upload your finished project to Ravelry!
Steps for Desktop (this is easier than mobile, I find):
1). Visit the Ravelry Listing here >> https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wip-wednesday-cal-cardigan
2). In the top right-hand side, you will see a crochet hook icon that says ‘create project’ – click this. A window will appear. You can give it a name or just leave it as the pattern name. Click ‘create project’ again.
3). Click around to edit your project, add notes, add a rating, add photos. Have fun with it!
Grand Prize –
A winner will be chosen from the uploaded Ravelry Projects for a mystery grand prize that will be announced during the last Wip Wednesday Live of the month. The winner will be chosen at random from Completed Cardigans only.
I hope you enjoy making the Wip Wednesday Cal Cardigan, thanks for stopping by, and happy Crocheting!
