SPRING CURTSY AFGHAN FREE CROCHET PATTERN – PART 2

I can not believe it’s already time for Part 2 of the Spring Curtsy Afghan! I have really enjoyed seeing your afghans popping up on my feed on Instagram, and as projects on Ravelry – they are so beautiful!

Part 2 introduces some beautiful blossoms and winding grey flowers. I love the pops of colour in this portion of the afghan so much!

You’ll also be topping those Popcorn flowers that were begun in Part 1! If you haven’t started Part 1 of the Spring Curtsy Afghan Free Crochet Pattern, find it here >> https://www.cococrochetlee.com/post/spring-curtsy-afghan-free-crochet-pattern-part-1/

There are a few things to consider before beginning this free pattern:

Because this was a commissioned piece, it was going to go through BluPrint’s rigorous tech editing and testing phase as part of turning it into one of their kits. And because I’ve decided to offer it as a free pattern, you should know straight away that this blanket has not been tested (yet!). It has not been tech edited either. So I will definitely say that there could be small pattern errors that come up, and I will address and update them as they arise. You can contact me if you find an issue.

The next thing I’ll say is that this is an INTERMEDIATE pattern. It’s not for the feint at heart. It features complex stitches, constantly changing rows, and lots of counting. If you haven’t attempted a Metlasse Afghan in the past, this is beautiful, but you may need to read and re-read the instructions a few times in order to get the stitches in some places. This afghan features stranded colourwork as well, so it will require you to change from one colour to another mid-round.

That all being said, YOU CAN DO IT! I believe in you. If you have helpful tips feel free to leave them in the comments below. And also please understand that at this time, and also never in the past, will I/ have I offered tutorial videos for patterns. I wish I had time to do them, but alas, I prefer to be a commissioned artist, and haven’t dabbled in the free video area of our wonderful community. Thanks for respecting my choice, I appreciate you~.

Here’s a peek at another blanket pattern on the CoCo Crochet Lee Blog, and one of my favourites! >> Take me to the Juliet’s November Afghan

You can find an ad-free pdf of the Spring Curtsy Afghan on Ravelry. It will be released in parts and updated.

PIN it here and make it later:

  1. Ugggghhhh I should have not sent that because I have a basic question…3rd loop is the “yarn over” of hdc as I have learned.
The problem is I am not sure if that is what you are referring to cuz it may be something different to us all?
I know the front loop AKA FLO and back loop AKA BLO and post back and front- and I thought I knew the 3rd loops was the yarn over stitch we do in hdc ?
I sure hope you are understanding me.
OK I will for sure not ask anymore. Promise this time for sure! That was just one I have been having a problem with now and reading ahead.
    Linda ❤

  2. Oh Gosh!
I feel so bad but I PROMISE I will ask NO MORE QUESTIONS!
If I cannot get it after knowing this I am frogging it and done!
It is so beautiful and I hate to but…
    23. Where is the * so I can repeat from?
…ch 2, skip corner; repeat from * around, join–
I blew it up HUGE thinking I my eyes must be really bad and I cannot find it 😦 It does to repeat from * right?
Again, I am sorry for asking.
Round 23: Sl st in 3rd loop of next 16 sts, ch 3, skip next 3 fpdc, 5 dc between the next 2 sts, ch 3, skip next 3 fpdc, sl st in 3rd loop of next 7 sts, working in the 4 dcs from Round 20 popcorn in next 4 dc, sl st in 3rd loop of next 7 sts, ch 3, skip next 3 fpdc, 5 dc between next 2 sts, ch 3, skip next 3 fpdc, sl st in 3rd loop of next 16 sts, ch 2, skip corner; repeat from * around, join–
Could you just send me the answer to let me know if you want or answer here. Whichever is easiest for you.
I will keep checking with fingers crossed. ❤

    1. Hey there! I believe the * should be at the beginning of the round, so right before the 1st sl st. I’ll update the blog!
