Ruffle Stitch Dishcloth – Free Crochet Pattern!

The Ruffle Texture is such a unique way to get a raised texture using chains and slip stitches, while still working easily in rows. By working in the back loops only of your row, you can leave the texture on the right side of your work, while continuing to crochet the remaining rows with ease!
I absolutely adore the colour Mustard Yellow, and when I found this Wool and the Gang Shiny Happy Cotton in my stash in ‘chalk yellow’ I knew that I had to design something with it. What came about was this quick and fun dishcloth pattern that you can whip up for markets, or add to a spa gift basket for that special touch! The ruffle texture is easy to make, and works to add a wonderful scrubbing texture to your fabric.
How to Crochet Ruffle Texture in a dishcloth, let’s get started! Take a look at the supplies list that you need in order to crochet the Ruffle Stitch Dishcloth, and choose your favourite lightweight cotton to get started! This pattern is worked with single crochet stitches, chains, and in the back loops only for many of the rows. Keep that in mind when stitching!
I started with a lightweight cotton for my dishcloth! This Wool and the Gang Shiny Happy Cotton is perfect for this project as it’s not too bulky and will create a create the perfect weight to your fabric. You need one ball in the colour of your choice. You will also need a Size I/9 (5.5mm) crochet hook, and a yarn needle to weave in your ends. If you are using a different yarn, I would recommend going up a hook size or two over the recommended hook size for your yarn. You can find the recommended hook size on the label of your chosen yarn.

Start with Ch 26.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across, turn–25 sc.
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 4: Working in BLO, (sl st, ch 3, sl st) in each st across, turn.
Row 5: Working in BLO, sc in unworked loops of Row 4.
Rows 6-13: Repeat Rows 2-5.
Rows 14-19: Repeat Rows 2-3.
Rows 20-31: Repeat Rows 2-5.
Edging
Ch 1, sc evenly around entire cloth, chaining 1 in each corner.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
