I absolutely love St. Patrick’s Day, because not only is it my little son’s birthday, but it also means that Spring is coming after a long winter! Spring means light and airy garments, and I have the perfect one to share with you! Say ‘hello!’ to the Split-Back Cardi, a lacy darling that is made in one long rectangle with two easy seams!
The Split-Back Cardi is part of a St.Patrick’s Day Blog Hop with some of my favourite designers!
Make sure you check out their posts, I’ll be updating with new links as the patterns go live!

Bust: 28-30 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46, 48-50, 52-54, 56-58, 60-62)” with a 1” positive ease in the fabric.
5 V stitches x 5 Rows = 4”
Beginning chain counts as a st.
This design is worked in rows to form a long rectangle that is later seamed to form the cardi.
Starting chain/st pattern is worked in multiples of 3 + 1.
V-Stitch = (dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated st.
Row 1: Ch 55 (64, 73, 82, 91, 100, 109, 118, 127), V-st in 5th ch from hook, *skip 2, V-st in next; repeat from * across ending with skip the next ch, dc in last ch, turn–16 (19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43) V-Sts, 2 dc.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1st st, *V-st in next ch-1 space; repeat from * across ending with dc in the top of the turning ch, turn.
Row 3: Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 48 (48, 50, 50, 52, 52, 54, 54, 54)” long.
Fasten off, and weave in ends.
Laying piece out horizontally, lengthwise, place a st marker in the bottom middle of the piece. Place a st marker in each of the bottom corners.
Bring the left and right st markers to the middle and combine those sts.
Seam from the st marker to the upward left, and upward right for 5-6” to close arm holes.
Using B, sc evenly from bottom of the split to the middle, and back down the other side of the split.
Weave in all ends.
