Limerick Tee Wip Wednesday Cal

Happy WIP Wednesday!! Are you ready for a brand new Wip Wednesday Crochet Along? Say, ‘hello!’ to the new Enid Shawl, our new crochet-along project for the month of March! This beautiful shawl is made with easy crochet stitches, perfect for a beginner!

What is WIP Wednesday Live?

WIP Wednesday Live is a weekly live chat that takes place on the CoCo Crochet Lee Facebook Page! We have been doing this weekly live chat for a few years now. WIP Wednesday took a hiatus while host, Lee Sartori of CoCo Crochet Lee, took a break to move with her family across Canada this year from Ontario to Nova Scotia.

Every Wednesday afternoon, crochet and knitting friends gather up their current WIP (work in progress), a drink, some snacks, and anything cozy that they need, and we all chat! There are unboxings, new patterns, exciting news, and just general yarny-fun. We have a lot of laughs!! You’ll also get to know the regular friends that join in the live conversations each week!

How to Join the Live

WIP Wednesday Live starts at 2 pm Atlantic Standard Time on Wednesdays on the CoCo Crochet Lee Facebook Page. In order to join in the conversation, all you have to do is load up the Facebook page and wait for the live to pop up on the feed. Once you see the post, you can click it to join in the live!

You can participate in the live by using the comments bar. Say hi, tell us all what you are working on for the week, and share in the conversation in real-time!

You can also send Facebook Stars during the live video to help extend the live chats by 1/2 hour! For every 5000 Stars sent during the Live, the video will extend by 1/2 hour. Sending stars is optional and appreciated! Stars help the creator with funds for pattern design, prizes, and more! Sending Stars helps to make our Wip Wednesday lives fun and exciting each and every week!

Although photos of your crochet can’t be shared in the comments during the live video, you can join our Facebook Group to share photos and updates of your crochet along with everyone else! The CoCo Crochet Lee Community Group is open to joining so that you can see what everyone is up to. You’ll also get lots of great updates about WIP Wednesday Live, and everything going on for CoCo Crochet Lee.

The Limerick Tee Crochet Along

I am so excited for our May Crochet Along for the Enid Limerick Tee! This t-shirt is made in two panels that are seamed together, and uses a lovely cross dc stitch pattern. The pattern is beginner friendly with simple stitches such as sc, dc, and chains. That’s it!

I used WeCrochet Lindy Chain Yarn, it is a light-weight fingering yarn, that is 70% linen, and 30% Pima Cotton. It works up so beautifully! You can find it on sale here >> SHOP LINDY CHAIN

This tee is a breeze to crochet using simple crochet stitches!

Yarn

WeCochet Lindy Chain (fingering weight) (180yds/50g):  1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4) balls Blush (A), and 1 ball each Sagebrush (B), and Ivy (C).

US Size G/6 (4mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Size/Measurements

This pattern contains 4” of positive ease meaning it has a loose fit.

Gauge

20 dc x 9 rows  = 4″

Notes

  1. Tee is worked in two seamed panels, starting at the hem and ending at the neckline.

Abbreviations

Ch = chain

Dc = double crochet

Sc = single crochet

Sl st = slip stitch

Special Stitch

Cross-Dc (crossed double crochet) = Skip next st, double crochet in next, cross in front of dc just made, and dc in last skipped stitch.

Part One May 3rd  – Welcome to the first part of the cal!

Choose your yarn and match your gauge! Upload a project photo of your gauge swatch to Ravelry for a chance to win an amazing prize before next Wednesday!

Gauge Swatch:

Row 1: Ch 22, dc in 3rd ch from hook, cross-dc across to last, dc in last, turn – 20 dc.

Rows 2-9: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc here and throughout), cross-dc across to last, dc in last, turn – 20 dc.

Fasten off. Using a tape measure, measure your swatch. The swatch should match 4″ x 4″ square. Because gauge is not essential to this shawl, if you are near 4″ squared, that would be fine as well!

Be sure to share your finished Enid Shawls on Instagram with @coco.crochet.lee

Part Three May 24th  – Welcome to the third part of the cal!

Today we will be starting the seaming and sleeve edging for the Limerick Tee!! Upload a project photo of your finished tee to Ravelry for a chance to win an amazing prize before Wednesday May 31st!

Here are the final instructions for the Limerick Tee! Here you will find the seaming instructions, as well as the sleeve cuff instructions.

Seaming

Counting down from the tops of the shoulders, use a stitch marker to allot 16 (16, 16, 20, 20, 20, 22, 22, 22) rows for the armhole on each panel, marking the next row end for the beginning of the side seam.

With the right sides of each panel facing each other, and the wrong sides facing outwards, sew the shoulder seam closed on each side. Starting at the row-end of the marked row, sew side seams shut all the way down to the bottom of the hem on both sides. Weave in ends.

Sleeve Cuff

With A.
Round 1:  Join to marked row-end at armhole opening, ch 1, hdc 2 sts for each row end around ((this would equal 32 (32, 32, 40, 40, 40, 44, 44, 44) for each panel)), join with a sl st to 1st st – 64 (64, 64, 80, 80, 80, 88, 88, 88) hdc for total sleeve opening.
Rounds 2-9:  Ch 1, [fphdc 2, bphdc 2] around, join – 64 (64, 64, 80, 80, 80, 88, 88, 88) sts.
Fasten off, weave in ends.

That’s it for Part Three of our crochet along! You have one week to work on the sleeves until the end of the crochet along. Be sure to share your Limerick Cal photos in our group and also on Instagram! You can find me on Instagram at www.instagram.com/coco.crochet.lee
