Say ‘hello’ to the Lee’s Cabled Beanie! It’s my take on a classic cabled beanie, perfect for snowy days! This hat features a double brim with loads of stretch, and beautiful, wide cables winding in 3 places around the body. Top it with a handmade pom for a perfect finish! The Lee’s Cabled Beanie is crocheted with yarn from my friends at WeCrochet.

The Yarn
In order to make the perfect beanie, I wanted to create a double brim, but a super thick body. In order to get the best of both worlds, I used WeCrochet Swish DK, held single for the brim so that it didn’t get too chunky, and held double for the body of the hat for warmth. Swish DK is a 100% Superwash Merino Yarn, so it’s perfect for a cold Canadian winter. You can machine wash this yarn cold, and then tumble dry it on low, so I was okay with crocheting my sample in white!
You can find Swish DK in 50g skeins for $5.99 here >> WeCrochet Swish DK Yarn.
The WeCrochet Website describes Swish DK:
Swish is the superwash of crocheters’ dreams! By selecting high grade Merino wool (20.5 microns), we produced a machine-washable yarn that is super soft – definitely worthy of being worn against a baby’s skin. Just the ticket for children’s clothes, afghans, and crocheted gifts. No need to worry about the care your finished piece will receive since this yarn can be machine washed and will come out even softer than before!
Lightweight Swish DK is ideal for intarsia crochet and other stranded colorwork, making warm and colorful hats, mittens, pullovers. The extra soft merino is gentle enough for the most delicate skin, while convenience machine washability makes this the ideal yarn for pampering your wee ones.
Swish is also available in Worsted and Bulky weights.

This is very cool! I also enjoyed your valentines day cat pattern. Thank you for posting these for free!
I am having trouble with round 2. You are suppose to do 12 hdc and tben the cable A stitch 6 times?
My apologies, it should be 3 times rather than 6. I’ll update in the morning.
Thank you. Beautiful pattern.
Row 2: HDC 12, Cable A (12 sts) 6x! That adds up to more than 72 sts! It’s 144 sts. What am I doing wrong?
Hey there, it should be 3 times, I’ll update.
That makes much more since. Haha. Thank you.
Hi there! Is the brim really 72 rows? or just 7?
Thanks for sharing the pattern, this is a beautiful hat!
Hey there! It’s 72 rows worked in a long band that gets folded in half lengthwise. I hope that helps!
Yes! Thanks so much! 🙂
