WeCrochet Curio Size #10 Thread (721 yds, 100g):  1 skein each Jalapeno (A), and Tumeric (B)

Materials

US Size 7 (1.5mm) steel crochet hook, stitch marker, scissors, yarn needle, rounded coin clasp, two 4.5” round pieces of felt.

Not critical for this project. 

Special Stitches

2-dc cluster (2 double crochet cluster) = [yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook] twice, yo and pull through remaining 3 loops. 

3-dc cluster (3 double crochet cluster) = [yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook] x 3, yo and pull through remaining 4 loops. 

4-dc cluster (4 double crochet cluster) = [yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook] x 4, yo and pull through remaining 5 loops. 

5-dc cluster (5 double crochet cluster) = [yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook] x 5, yo and pull through remaining 6 loops.

Instructions:

Back Piece (make 2)

With A, make a magic ring. 

Round 1:  Ch 2, 10 dc in ring, join to 1st st–10 dc. 

Round 2:  Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join to 1st st–20 dc.

Round 3:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc] around, join to 1st st–30 dc.

Round 4:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc 2] around, join to 1st st–40 dc.

Round 5:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc 3] around, join to 1st st–50 dc.

Round 6:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc 4] around, join to 1st st–60 dc.

Round 7:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc 5] around, join to 1st st–70 dc.
Round 8:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc 6] around, join to 1st st–80 dc.

Round 9:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc 7] around, join to 1st st–90 dc.

Round 10:  Ch 2, [2 dc, dc 8] around, join to 1st dc-100 dc.

Holding felt to WS, st next Round by punching through felt with hook.

Round 11:  Ch 1, sc around, join to 1st st–100 sc. 

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Overlay (make 2)

With B.

Round 1:  Ch 3, [2-dc cluster, ch 1] x 8 into 3rd ch from hook, join to 1st st–8 sts.

Round 2:  Ch 2, (3-dc cluster, ch 1, 3-dc cluster) in same space, *ch 1,  (3-dc cluster, ch 1, 3-dc cluster) in next ch-1 space; repeat from * around, join to 1st st–16 sts.

Round 3:  Ch 4 (counts as ch 2, dc), [dc in next ch-1 space, ch 2] around, join to 1st st–16 sts.

Round 4:  Ch 2, (4-dc cluster, ch 1, 4-dc cluster) in same space, *ch 1, 4-dc cluster in next ch-2 space, ch 1, (4-dc cluster, ch 1, 4-dc cluster) in next ch-2 space; repeat from * around, join to 1st st–24 sts.

Round 5:  Sl st to next ch-1 space, [ch 8, skip next ch-1 space, sl st in next ch-1 space] around–12 ch-8 spaces.
Place Overlay over Back Piece to work next Round in sts of Round 11 of Back Piece. 

Round 6:  Sl st to 4th ch of next ch-8 space, ch 2, *[5-dc cluster in ch-8 space, ch 2, sc 3 in Round 11 of Back Piece, skip 5 sts of Round 11, ch 2] twice, [5-dc cluster in ch-8 space, ch 2, sc 3 in Round 11 of Back Piece, skip 6 sts of Round 11, ch 2]; repeat from * around, join to 1st st–48 sts.
Change to A.

Round 7:  Join to any st of Round 11 of Back Piece, sc in each st of Round 11 of Back Piece and in each sc of Round 6 around–100 sts. 

Fasten off, weave in ends. 

Finishing
Sew each side to coin purse frame. Sew remaining sts closed around open edge. Weave in all ends.
