Crochet the free Anabelle Sava Top pattern!

Say ‘hello’ and get ready to crochet free the Anabelle Sava Top pattern! I’m so excited to introduce this beauty to you with the help from my friends at WeCrochet!

When I designed this top, I was looking for something that would be light-weight and breezy, and that would also feature some interesting texture! I love designing garments with simple shapes put together with fun construction.

The Yarn

Since I was looking for something light-weight I was so excited to come across this beautiful WeCrochet Stroll Fingering Weight Yarn! It’s so light and airy, but it works up with some great stitch definition at the same time. Stroll is a 75% superwash merino wool, with 25% nylon, so not only is it crazy soft, but it also has some elasticity to it! It’s perfect for this type of garment, and it worked up beautifully. If you are going to make an Anabelle Sava Top, I highly recommend ordering some of this yarn, it’s $4.99 a ball, and so very affordable!

Materials

US Size G/6 (4mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Sizes/Measurements

Sizes XS (Sm, Med, Lg, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x)

Bust 35 (35, 40, 45, 45, 55, 55, 60, 65)”

Gauge
Finished Square Measurements

Measuring across square from top left corner to bottom right corner will measure 7 (7, 8, 9, 9, 11, 11, 12, 13)” diagonally across.

Special Stitches

Popcorn St = Work 5 double crochet (dc) stitches in the same stitch. Drop the loop from your hook. Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group. Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch. One front-popping popcorn is complete.

Notes

  1. Top is worked in square motifs that are assembled to create the finished garment. Use diagram to create Front and Back panels, and follow joining instructions to add the shoulder pieces, as well as the underarm pieces which don’t lay flat, they curve with the shape of the shoulders/underarm to create a bell sleeve.
  2. Different sizes are achieved by adding additional rounds/rows to each motif to increase measurements. The same number of motifs are worked for every size.
  3. Be VERY careful not to miss the first dc on the side right after a corner.

Rows 4-12:  Repeat Rows 4-12 of Dove Heather Triangle.

Assembly

The easiest way to assemble this garment is by creating a Front Panel, and a Back Panel, and then seaming it together under the arms while adding the shoulder pieces and underarm pieces. Take it step by step, and follow the diagram for help.

Once Front and Back panels are assembled, to join them together, start by pinning the yellow center corners together on either side. The remaining squares will fit together until you get to the sleeve area. Sew underarm square in gap between front and back panels in the Treasure section. Sew Shoulder in gap between front and back panels. The sleeve will have a natural opening. I’ve created a graphic with letters that match A-A, B-B along one side (the other side will mirror this).

Collar

Using C, join to top of left square on Back Panel. Ch 1 and sc evenly across entire front collar of garment, ch 101, turn.

Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch and sc across, ch 101, turn.

Ch 1, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch and sc across, ending at the top of back right square (before working on long chain again). Fasten off, weave in ends.

Cuffs

Using C, sc evenly around sleeve cuffs for 3 rounds.

Hem

Using B, sc evenly around hem for 3 rounds.

Finishing

Fasten off, weave in all ends. Tie the tie at the back of the garment in a bow.

Steam block entire garment to smooth it out.

  1. Hi! I’m wanting to try this out but I’m a little confused as to what colour to use. Is it colour 1 is A, colour 2 is b and colour 3 is c? πŸ™‚
Beautiful pattern I’m so looking forward to making this
